This year I was able to go to Chinatown to use the skills we learned in class. On this trip, Ms. Jiang brought us to a panel of Chinese teachers at the College of Manhatten. This was a little boring, since it was a college panel. After this we went shopping in Chinatown. We were able to bargain in Chinese. I knocked off $4 off a $15 necklace. Finally, we went to a Chinese restaurant and were able to order in chinese. I order pork dumpling, and I got pork dumplings.I was proud of myself for ordering right. This trip helped me learn that I can use my skills in the real world.

Trip To Mitsuwa Market Place
{ 7:38 AM }

Late last year, members of the Japanese classes, and Japanese Club were allowed to take a trip to the Mitsuwa Market Place in New Jersey. This was a large marketplace and supermarket for all things Japanese. Being a member of the Japan cub, I was allowed to go. We were able to see all the different foods and and books that the Japanese enjoy. I even ended up buying A LOT of Japanese candy. Yummm. I had so much fun on that trip.

Giving Project
{ 7:35 AM }
|| ||
During late November and early December, all members of the freshman class were assigned the giving project. This was where we had to pick a book on a different culture and read it to children within the grades of 1st grade to third grade. Along with reading the book, we ad to think of an activity to go along with it. My group ended up picking the Jewish religion. We read a book called the A-B-C's of Jewish Religion. We then asked our third grade class to draw a picture of their favorite holiday from the book, and write a sentence on why. This day ended up being really fun, and a chance for us all to be in the shoes of our teachers.
